Gail's Caramel Frosting

Smooth and sweet caramel frosting for Gail's Spice Cake.
  • ¼ cup butter or margarine
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbs milk
  • ¾ cup plus 3 Tbs icing sugar
  1. In small saucepan melt butter or margarine; add brown sugar.
  2. Stir over low heat 2 minutes.
  3. Add milk; bring to a boil.
  4. Remove from heat; cool.
  5. Slowly beat in confectioners’ sugar until smooth and of spreading consistency.
The frosting was too thick to spread so I added milk until it was the right texture for spreading - Misty
