Chocolate Cinnamon Cake with Cream Cheese Filling

Inspired by the Starbucks Black-Bottomed Cupcakes but with a twist.
Cream Cheese Filling
  • 250 grams cream cheese, softened
  • 2 TBS sugar
  • 1 egg
  • dash of salt
  • ¾ Cup of dark chocolate chips
Cake Batter
  • 3 Cups flour
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • ¾ Cup cocoa
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Cups water
  • ⅔ Cup oil
  • 2 TBS vinegar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ Cup dark chocolate chips, dusted with flour
Cream Cheese Filling
  1. Cream together cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in egg and dash of salt.
  3. Stir in dark chocolate chips.
  4. Set aside.
Cake Batter
  1. Mix dry ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Mix in wet ingredients.
  3. Stir in flour dusted dark chocolate chips.
  1. Generously grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Pour 3 cups of cake batter in the bottom of the bundt pan.
  3. Dollop heaping tablespoons of Cream Cheese Filling evenly around pan staying in the center of the batter.
  4. Pour remaining batter over the top of the Cream Cheese Filling.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Let cake rest in pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a cooling rack.
  7. Cool completely before cutting, the cream cheese filling needs time to set.
