Reading has always been my escape. From Gordon Korman to Ken Follet, I have laughed and cried and discovered worlds I might have never known had I not had access to books. So, I couldn’t be more excited to attend Read for the Cure!
Read for the Cure (RFTC) is a fundraisers in a book club-type format that raises money for research into environmental links to cancer, specifically to the Cancer Research Society, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, and the BC Cancer Foundation. Since 2007, Read for the Cure has raised over $650,000 for cancer research.
The events feature three authors discussing their work followed by an audience question and answer session and book signing. Each guest goes with copies of the three authors’ books.
Now, here is something else I am really excited to share!
TELUS will contribute $1 to cancer research for each tweet using #Read4Cure, up to maximum of $5000. This campaign will end on November 25th so feel free to blow up the twittersphere!
BONUS – Telus gave me a Nexus 6 phone to give away to a lucky reader who helps us spread the word about this amazing event! Tweet using the hashtags #Read4Cure #yyc and tag @lifewhereweare to be entered. Contest closes at midnight November 5.
