Currie Barracks and #MaxAndMom Celebrate Summer

2137Currie_PerspFlandersAve_dcThis coming Saturday, #MaxAndMom, are going to be competing in some old-fashioned games against two prominent, and very comedic, social media personalities. Max is already practicing spoon races around the house and declares that he can do the limbo even better than a snake can. Everyone in Calgary is invited, so I am really hoping to see some friendly faces come out to cheer us on and enjoy the day with us.

The competition will be held around noon but you should plan to bring your family for a full afternoon of food and games. The event is a community picnic and block party being held at Currie Barracks’ newly refurbished Sales Centre (J5, 2953 Battleford Avenue SW, Calgary, AB T3E 7L4) on  Saturday, July 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be face-painting, music, food trucks and more! Can you guess who the two other competitors are who will be competing in the picnic game challenges? Leave me your guesses in the comments or give me a shout on Twitter, @LifeWhereWeAre.

I’ve always loved the Currie Barracks neighborhood but I only recently learned of the liveable, walkable urban village that is in development plans. I really love that it is designed with sustainability in mind (They are one of the few developments to achieve LEED-ND  certification.) and because of pedestrian networks most residents will be within a 5-minute walk of shops, parks, and public transportation. That is how a neighborhood should be!

For more info check out: http://curriebarracks.com and follow them on Twitter (@CurrieUrban) and Facebook (/currie.urban).  You should definitely stay tuned this week because I will be updating on all the training that #MaxAndMom are doing to ensure our 1st place win on Saturday!
