Family Hike At Big Hill Springs

Big Hill Springs Provincial Park is the perfect place for a family hike and it’s just twenty minutes outside of Calgary.  The path loops up and down a hill and winds around small streams and waterfalls fed by natural springs.  The views are beautiful and the 1.5 kilometer loop was right at the limit for Max’s 3 year old little legs.  There are quite a few places to sit and rest and there are picnic tables at the bottom of the hill for picnics.  This would be a great birthday party location and the perfect place to eat Strawberry Spelt Shortcake with some friends.

At the end of the day, Max said his favorite part was seeing the humongous waterfalls.

The Tufa formations are very impressive and fun to explore too.

I am easily distracted by the beauty in nature. This delicate growth on a rugged tree branch made me pause and wonder what it was--I need more moments that take me outside of myself.

Max and Vinnie stopped whenever they could to find a twig or rock to throw. This time they decided they needed to go fishing.
